How to Identify Your Skin Type

How to Identify Your Skin Type
In short

Dry, oily, or combination? Find your skin type with a simple method; choosing the right product starts here.

The first step of good care is knowing your own skin. Because a product that suits dry skin may bother oily skin, or vice versa. The answer to "which cream should I buy?" often hides in the question "what type is your skin?" The good news: figuring out your skin type is easier than you think.

A simple test

The most practical method: in the evening, gently wash your face and apply nothing on top. Wait about an hour and touch your skin.

  • If everywhere feels tight, pulling, maybe slightly flaky → dry skin.
  • If the forehead-nose-chin line shines and feels oily but the cheeks are normal → combination skin.
  • If almost everywhere is shiny and oily → oily skin.
  • If it's neither too dry nor too oily, balanced and comfortable → normal skin.

This simple observation guides you toward the right product better than most advertisements.

Each type's character

Dry skin feels tight all day and loves rich, deep moisturizers. Oily skin shines, pores may be visible, and it prefers light but moisturizing products, because oily skin can be dehydrated too. Combination skin, with two worlds at once, benefits from a targeted approach: richer care on dry spots, lighter on oily areas. Sensitive skin is more of a tendency than a type and wants gentle products.

Is skin type fixed?

Not exactly. Your skin type can shift a little with the season, your age, even stress and diet. In winter everyone's skin gets drier; summer can run oilier. So it makes sense to adjust your care with the seasons. "Listening" to your skin now and then is the best way to understand what it needs.

Choosing the right product

Once you know your skin type, product choice becomes clear. Dry: rich care oils and thick creams; oily: light, quickly absorbed products; combination: an approach that balances both. Trust your skin's response to a product more than the claims on the label. If a product keeps you comfortable all day, you've found the right one.

Once you understand your skin type, the rest is easy. To choose the natural products best suited to your skin, take a look in our shop, and if you're unsure, ask us.
